Strip clubs are a type of adult entertainment where guests from a variety of backgrounds and professions, including politicians, craftsmen, and business leaders, can unwind and forget about their daily pressures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What about those who would like to own and run such a place, though?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Makes a “Strip Club”?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, it’s crucial to separate strip clubs from other types of adult entertainment with rigorous regulatory frameworks, such brothels or other places where people can have sex on the premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a typical strip club<\/a>, performers (also known as “strippers”) take off all or part of their clothing as part of a “strip tease,” but no sexual services are offered to customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some local governments have more detailed definitions of what a strip club is. “striptease club premises”  can be defined as a location where:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“offering striptease performances, sexual dancing, tabletop performances, private dances, peepshows, or nude or semi-naked bar and wait staff. On-site sexual activity is prohibited. The venue may have a cover charge to enter or see the performance, and it might have a liquor license.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strip clubs must refrain from “acts of prostitution” like vaginal, anal, and oral sex as well as masturbation and the use of sex toys in order to escape registration as a brothel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Obtaining Permission to Operate<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To operate, all strip clubs must need local council approval. They could need to apply for approval as a “nightclub” or a “adult entertainment premises” depending on local government regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each council has its own set of regulations governing the placement of strip clubs as well as restrictions for signage, “spruiking” activities, and other conditions for doing business in a particular area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
